Okay, so I’m very new at this blogging thing but I hear it can prove to be very rewarding. I’ll just start with the basics:
My name is Zybrena and I am a designer (right, like you’ve never heard that one before). Specifically, I am currently the Senior Graphic Designer at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino Resort just outside of Maricopa, Arizona. To be truthful, not a bad gig to land six months after graduation. I attended the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia and received my BFA in Graphic Design in May of 2008. (So maybe “basics” was the wrong word…this is more like a background. Bear with me).
I began my studies in Studio Art, primarily drawing and painting, thinking that in four years I was actually going to make a living doing just that. After all, I’d been drawing from age 4 and not once was faulted with so much as a stray pencil mark on any of my so-called masterpieces. However, I soon realized (through countless disagreements with my professors) that my flawless record wouldn’t allow much room for instruction, so I decided to major in an area in which I could allow myself to be taught — an area in which I knew absolutely nothing. Enter Graphic Design!
The good news about still being so fresh in both my education and career is that I can actively maintain the ability to be both taught and influenced. That is what this blog is about: The Influences.
